The Guide to Careers in Child and Family Policy was developed nearly two decades ago by Lindsay Chase-Lansdale (Northwestern University) and Rachel A. Gordon (University of Illinois at Chicago) to provide validation, insight, and ideas for child and family policy careers.
The listings on the site provide examples of the range of settings where child and family policy careers can be pursued, including private, non-profit, academic, and government settings, and the range of ways they can be pursued, including formal academic degree programs as well as experiential learning in internships, fellowships, volunteer positions, or jobs.
Given the ever-changing landscape of opportunities, and our historical focus on opportunities that are available year after year, the site does not include all relevant settings. Additions are welcome. To add your organization, please click on the "Information Provider" link above. You can also recommend a setting, or get help adding your organization, by emailing cfp@uic.edu.
We are also currently conducting a comprehensive update of all listings. Because of this, we have temporarily de-activated many of the listings on the site. The section featuring academic units is now available. Please check back for availability of the sections featuring government, non-profit, and private settings.
We hope you find this careers resource useful and welcome comments and feedback (please send feedback to cfp@uic.edu). Please note that a listing in the careers guide does not imply endorsement by the University-Based Child and Family Policy Consortium, by the initial authors of the guide, or by the authors' respective institutions.
